Gerrard scores the second of his two goals for Liverpool versus Newcastle United.
Steven Gerrard has been arrested on a night that should have been remembered more fondly as a celebration of Liverpool's success in finishing 2008 as Barclays Premier League leaders rather than one which has ended in the captain spending the night in a prison cell.
The UK tabloids are reporting that Gerrard was one of six men arrested after a fight broke out at a Merseyside bar.
A 34 year old man was taken to hospital with facial injuries.
Gerrard was a man on fire for Liverpool against Newcastle United grabbing two goals and two assists on the way to a 5-1 away victory. He may even have had five had it not been for the heroics of Shay Given. This is not the news Rafa Benitez and Liverpool fans would have been expecting to hear after such an incredible performance by their side on the weekend and 2008 overall and can only hope their captain is not in the wrong when light is shed on the incident.
